Your body's seven energy centres — the ancient map of healing, health, and immune power that science is only beginning to understand
The word Chakra (चक्र) means "wheel" or "vortex" in Sanskrit. According to ancient Indian Vedic science and Ayurveda, the human body has 114 chakras — but 7 main chakras form the primary energy axis running along the spine from the base (Muladhara) to the crown (Sahasrara).
These chakras are not merely spiritual concepts — they correspond directly to the major nerve plexuses, endocrine glands, and organ systems of your body. When all 7 chakras are open, aligned, and spinning freely, your body maintains perfect health and powerful immunity. When one or more become blocked or imbalanced, disease begins.
At Satyam Yogashramam, our Kriya Yoga practice, Ayurvedic therapies, forest environment, and organic diet work together to systematically open, balance, and energize all 7 chakras — restoring your body's natural healing intelligence.
The foundation of your entire energy system and immune strength
Muladhara is the first and most fundamental chakra — your energetic root system. Just as a tree needs strong roots to grow, your entire health, energy, and immunity rests on the stability of this chakra. It governs your most primal life force — survival, grounding, physical strength, and the will to live.
In Ayurvedic medicine, Muladhara corresponds to the Apana Vayu — the downward life force that eliminates waste, toxins, and disease from the body. A strong, open Muladhara creates a powerful immune foundation because it regulates the adrenal glands which produce cortisol and adrenaline — the body's primary stress response hormones.
The seat of creativity, emotions, reproductive vitality, and fluid balance
Svadhisthana means "one's own dwelling place." It governs the flow of bodily fluids — blood, lymph, hormones, digestive secretions — and the emotional body. Its water element rules the kidneys, bladder, and reproductive system. Healthy emotions and fluid balance are essential prerequisites for strong immunity.
This chakra directly controls the lymphatic system — your body's immune highway. Lymph fluid carries immune cells (lymphocytes) throughout the body. A blocked Svadhisthana means sluggish lymph flow, accumulation of toxins, and weakened immune response.
Your digestive fire, metabolic power, personal strength, and immune command centre
Manipura means "city of gems" and is your body's most powerful metabolic and immune centre. It governs Agni — the digestive fire that Ayurveda identifies as the root of all health. When Agni burns well, food is digested completely, nutrients are absorbed fully, and waste is eliminated efficiently. This creates optimal conditions for immunity.
Modern science now recognises that 70–80% of your immune system lives in your gut — right at the Manipura chakra location. The gut microbiome, GALT (gut-associated lymphoid tissue), and enteric nervous system are all under this chakra's governance.
The bridge between physical and spiritual — and the direct seat of your immune master gland
Anahata is the most critical chakra for immunity. It governs the Thymus gland — your body's immune master gland that produces and matures T-lymphocytes (T-cells), the warriors of your immune system. The thymus is literally located at the Anahata chakra location in the centre of the chest.
This chakra is also the bridge between the lower (physical) and upper (spiritual) chakras, integrating body, mind, and soul. Love, compassion, and emotional healing activate the thymus gland and boost immunity — this is why joyful, loving people tend to be healthier and heal faster.
Voice, truth, metabolic regulation, and the immune power of the thyroid
Vishuddha means "especially pure." It governs the thyroid gland — which controls the body's metabolic rate, temperature, and the rate at which immune cells are produced and deployed. A well-functioning thyroid is essential for strong immunity — too slow (hypothyroid) or too fast (hyperthyroid) both impair immune function.
This chakra also governs authentic self-expression. Suppressing your voice, truth, and emotions creates energy blockages that manifest as throat disorders, thyroid imbalances, and chronic neck stiffness.
The master controller of the entire endocrine-immune axis — intuition, clarity, and neuroimmunology
Ajna means "to command" and governs the pituitary gland — the master gland of the entire endocrine system. It sends hormonal commands to every other gland in the body including the thymus, thyroid, adrenals, and gonads. When Ajna is open and clear, the entire hormonal-immune communication network functions optimally.
The emerging field of Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) confirms that thoughts, beliefs, and mental clarity directly regulate immune function through neuro-hormonal pathways — exactly what Ajna chakra governs. Kriya Yoga's meditation practices specifically target this chakra.
The seat of divine consciousness, cosmic connection, and the source of complete healing intelligence
Sahasrara is the crown of the entire chakra system and represents your connection to the universal life force — the source of all healing. When fully awakened through deep Kriya Yoga practice, this chakra establishes a direct channel between the individual body-mind and the universal healing intelligence that maintains the harmony of all living systems.
The pineal gland at Sahasrara produces melatonin and DMT (endogenous) — melatonin being one of the most powerful natural antioxidants and immune regulators, protecting cells from DNA damage, enhancing T-cell activity, and regulating the entire sleep-immune cycle.
