Every path of yoga leads to the same destination — wholeness, health, and liberation. Discover which path is right for you.
The word Yoga (योग) comes from the Sanskrit root "Yuj" meaning "to unite" or "to yoke." Yoga is the ancient Indian science of creating perfect union between body, mind, breath, and spirit — resulting in complete physical health, mental clarity, emotional stability, and spiritual freedom.
Unlike modern gym-style "yoga" focused only on flexibility, traditional yoga is a comprehensive healing science with over 100 distinct branches and approaches. Each branch offers a unique path suited to different temperaments, goals, and stages of life.
At Satyam Yogashramam, we teach and practise multiple yoga traditions, with our specialty being Kriya Yoga — the most advanced and powerful of all yoga paths for healing and self-realisation.
Each yoga type works through a different primary faculty of the human being — body, breath, mind, emotions, intellect, action, or energy.
The most advanced and scientifically complete yoga path. Kriya means "action" or "technique" — it is a precise set of breath, mantra, mudra, and meditation kriyas that accelerate spiritual evolution and heal the body by controlling prana (life energy). Taught by Mahavatar Babaji and spread by Paramahansa Yogananda.
The most widely practised yoga worldwide. "Ha" = Sun (prana), "Tha" = Moon (apana). Hatha balances the solar and lunar energies through physical postures (asanas), breathing (pranayama), locks (bandhas), and cleansing (kriyas).
Patanjali's "Ashtanga" or eight-limbed path — the complete science of mind mastery. Raja means "king" — this path makes you the master of your own mind. The eight limbs include Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana (meditation), and Samadhi.
The yoga of love, devotion, and surrender. Bhakti dissolves the ego through pure love — for God, for nature, for humanity. It works directly on the heart chakra (Anahata), activating the thymus gland and flooding the body with healing neurochemicals like oxytocin and serotonin.
The yoga of self-inquiry, intellectual discernment, and wisdom. Jnana uses the mind to transcend the mind — through deep study, philosophical inquiry, and the continuous question "Who am I?" It activates the Ajna (third eye) and Sahasrara (crown) chakras most powerfully.
The yoga of selfless action and service. Karma Yoga teaches you to act without attachment to results — performing every action as an offering. This is the yoga most directly expressed through our NGO's social service work — free treatment, health camps, and medicinal plant distribution.
The yoga of awakening the dormant Kundalini energy coiled at the base of the spine (Muladhara). When awakened through specific kriyas, breathing, and bandhas, this energy rises through all 7 chakras, activating their corresponding organs and healing the entire body. Deeply connected to Kriya Yoga.
The yoga of sacred sound vibration. Sanskrit mantras are not merely words — they are precise sound frequencies that create measurable vibrations in the body. Each chakra responds to its specific seed mantra (Beej Mantra). Mantras activate healing through sound therapy, cymatics, and neural entrainment.
Often misunderstood, Tantra is the comprehensive science of energy — working with all forms of life energy including breath, sound, movement, and consciousness. It uses the body as a tool for spiritual liberation rather than viewing it as an obstacle. Our Moksha Therapy draws on Tantric principles.
The yoga of cosmic sound — listening to the inner sounds of the body and universe. Nada Yoga includes listening to music, nature sounds, and eventually the internal Anahata Nada (unstruck sound). The forest itself is our Nada Yoga teacher — birds, wind, water, and rustling leaves are healing vibrations.
The ancient science of breath rhythms — specifically which nostril dominates at different times and how this affects health, decision-making, and the body's organ systems. Swara Yoga maps the entire body's physiological cycles to breath patterns, allowing precise health management.
Often called the most healing yoga practice, Yoga Nidra induces a state between sleep and waking — where the brain is in theta wave state, the body undergoes maximum regeneration, the immune system activates fully, and deep-seated emotional and physical tensions dissolve completely.
Kriya Yoga is our most specialised, most powerful, and most transformative offering. It is the reason thousands of patients — many who had given up hope — have found complete healing at Satyam Yogashramam.
Kriya Yoga is a sophisticated set of energy management techniques that work directly on the Prana (life force) flowing through the body's 72,000 Nadis (energy channels) and 7 chakras. By controlling and directing Prana consciously, Kriya practitioners can accelerate the body's natural healing rate dramatically.
In scientific terms, Kriya Yoga works through the vagus nerve — the body's primary healing pathway — activating the parasympathetic "rest and heal" state, reducing inflammatory cytokines, enhancing T-cell activity, and triggering the body's deep self-repair mechanisms.
Our experienced Kriya Yoga teachers will design a personalised practice based on your health condition and healing goals.
